Mission Statement:
3 John 1:2 " Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."
Health of the community is a vital focus of Health Ministries:
Wholeness and health have been an emphasis of the Seventh-day Adventist church since the 1860s when the church
began. The Bible reminds us that the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and we have been entrusted with the
privilege of maintaining and improving our spiritual, mental, social and physical health. Health Ministries promotes
good health and the prevention of ill health to help achieve this goal of wholeness.
Health ministry is an essential part of Adventists’ mission, because it reveals God’s character as healing rather than
condemning, underscores the Bible’s reliability, and demonstrates the value of obedience. The obvious reason why
connecting health ministry to the local church makes sense is because the local church is the main evangelizing
entity. The local congregation preaches, teaches and witnesses about the character of God.
Since Christ is no longer in this world in person, to go through our cities and towns and villages healing the sick, He
has commissioned us to carry forward the that He began. "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do,
do all to the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31. Health ministry is the gospel of Christ illustrated, the message of
God practiced.
Vegan Potluck Dinners are held the second Sabbath of each month. This provides an opportunity to share new
receipes, delicious vegan meals and it gives a wonderful opportunity to introduce the Health Message and diet to
church members and visitors who may not have tried these delicious foods. The monthly meal also provides an
opportunity for fellowship with fellow Christian and visitors to Daughter of Zion Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Come to the next Vegan Potluck and we will be following up on the Weight Loss
Total to date. Our church members have been participating since last April in a Weight Loss challenge from the members of the Health Message team. Brother James Luke and his team members presented a week long Health Seminar and gave wonderful information to the participants in that seminar.
These are eight basic principles of health
suggested in the Health Message:
· Pure air
· Sunlight
· Temperance (balance, self-control)
· Rest
· Exercise
· Natural diet
· Water
· The Inspired Word
